5 Minute Friday: Roar

by Lisa on January 6, 2012

After 31 Days: Live Intentional, I’ve started reading several blogs on a regular basis. One is Annie’s Musings. Today she had a linky link to the Gypsy Mama’s blog post about a “Five Minute Friday” challenge.

A what? A challenge? I’m usually a sucker for a challenge (especially one like the Joy Dare) so I thought I better see what all the hoopla was about. And, after a little looksey I think I wanna try. So Gypsy Mama’s “rules” are as follows:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – don’t edit; don’t second-guess.

2. Link back here and invite others to join in.

3. Must: leave a comment for the person who linked up before you – encouraging them in their writing!

Okay…so…here goes nothin’. Starting the timer now.

Word: ROAR

“What’s for dinner?” he asks. How can such a low growl come from such a small boy? I ignore him. He persists. “Mom, did you hear me? What’s for dinner I asked?”

“Uh…I’m busy. Give me five minutes.”

In comes the middle girl and in a loud voice she sort of roars, “Mom, I’m hungry. When are you going to feed us?”

“I’m busy!” I roar back.

Too much roaring going on in our house. Gotta turn it from roaring to loving. How?

  • Pray.
  • Breathe.
  • Be aware.
  • Act intentionally.

— Dang! The timer is up. Five minutes goes by fast—too fast. I’ll have to finish these thoughts/ideas/patterns of thinking another day.

Now it’s your turn. What do you have to say in five minutes about ROAR?
